European shoppers may soon receive more Shein orders from warehouses within the bloc rather than shipments travelling directly from Asia. The online fashion retailer has announced a €500 million investment to enlarge its logistics operation near Wrocław in Poland.

The expansion follows new European Union charges on low-value imported parcels, a regulatory shift affecting Shein and competitors such as Temu and AliExpress. Shein says the site could support more than 10,000 workers and thousands of autonomous warehouse robots by the end of 2026.

Locating more stock inside Europe can shorten deliveries and give retailers greater control over fulfilment. It also changes the economics of cross-border e-commerce, where low shipment costs have helped overseas platforms compete with domestic merchants.

The announcement is a commitment, not evidence that the entire sum has already been invested. Its wider importance lies in how trade policy can reshape corporate location decisions, directing logistics infrastructure and employment towards European markets while leaving questions about competition and consumer pricing unresolved.
